Bridge

Bridge is a game most commonly played on the computer, and because it’s a game of partnership, I already know why it has been so popular over the years. People teaming up to take down another team is an irrisistable ingredient, as is being able to make bids and earn bucks. With bridge, decision making is important. Bidding or playing is up to you, but it’s a pretty easy decision to make. If you have a good hand, you would make your bid. If you have a poor hand, you’d make the decision to pass. To make it easier, if you have less than 12 points, it best that you pass. Four players is the traditional number for a game of bridge.

Wherever you play it and whatever you play, card games are some of the most popular ways to work your brain and have a good time. Learnings new tricks will always get you further in any game, even the games of chance. And it isn’t a waste of time. Games like poker and blackjack can get you heft earnings, or at the least, it can take you to places like Las Vegas, where you can expand on your passion and maybe even make a career out of it.

Blackjack

With terms like “Hit”, “Split a Pair” and “Surrender”, blackjack is less like a card game and more like a few hours in war. This makes blacjack an obvious reason to love it. There is a lot of strategising in blacjack, so those who have a clear understanding of the game can admire it even more for this reason. Like poker, blackjack has less to do about luck and more about your knowledge and skill. Also like poker, it’s more of a sophisticated card game, one you take more seriously than, say, solitaire. You can play it online, at the casino, and with a deck of cards. The rules basically stay the same, except for at a casino, you have the option of “surrendering” more than in other places to play.

Uno

When Uno came around, a lot of people went out to the stores in order to buy a colorful desk of a card game with a foreign but popular name. The name alone conjures simplicity in the most desirable form–fun enjoyment. People can sit around and keep playing until one person has but one card left. Then they announce ‘Uno’, and the game is over. As boring as this may sound, Uno is not a card game that can lose many people’s interests. Some people may say that it doesn’t have the longevity as the more classic card games, and while that may be true, Uno has enough originality to last people many years. Unlike Poker, different games with relatively the same concpept haven’t branched off it, but there are different themes to Uno that I know will keep myself going to the store just to pick up another, and then another, deck of colorful cards. Uno isn’t very old, but I believe that in time, it will get more of the recognition it deserves. Although it is still popular, some people can say that Uno has taken up all 15 minutes of granted time in the spotlight, and now it’s time for this game to move over, and another one to take its place. I don’t believe that’s true. Just go to a store and pick up a newer version of Uno–you’ll fall in love all over again.

Solitaire

Solitaire is one of the most popular card games anyone can play alone. Scratch that–it’s one of the most popular games anyone can play alone. It’s funny how solitaire is so old, played by everyone many, many times, hasn’t changed a significant amount of the years, and yet people are still madly in love with it. The honeymoon phase isn’t even close to over. People can get to solitaire by playing with a deck of cards, or on your desktop, or online. The game is the same, the outcome is also fairly the same, but people can’t get enough of it. Why is that? This is not an official diagnosis, but solitaire is known to be a game of patience, and in this impatient world, people need that sometimes. Not only is this card game enjoyable, but it’s calming. Some people can release energy and all the stress brought upon by the world through yoga, and others can extricate it through solitaire. It’s not uncommon, or even a statement to be laughed at, because the truth of it holds a valuable amount of respectability. This personal diagnosis can either be praised or critisized, but whatever the reason, solitare is beloved and we don’t have to worry about whether it harbors longevity or not.

Card Games

A lot of people play card games just for the fun of it. You, and about everyone else, would play Solitaire to pass the time, or War to show that you know a little something about cards. Lots of people favor the newer versions, like Uno, and others prefer to stick with the ones from years ago, like Go Fish. In the end, one thing is the same–you have a deck of cards. That may not be the most valuable observation, but in the crux of this fact, all card games can relate because of that one reason. I have written down a list of card games, and one hardly relates to the other. But they have more in common than a lot of people realize.
